The 1918 in the name nods to a heritage year, though in practical terms the brand you’ll deal with today is shaped by the distributor, whose own roots in hairdressing go back to the early 1990s. The pitch, and the honest read on it

TITAN’s argument is simple and it’s about money. For roughly the price of one mid-range Japanese pair, the company reckons a stylist could buy six to eight different TITAN shears, each set up for a particular technique. Most pairs land under $100, which is genuinely budget territory. That’s the appeal for students and anyone who wants a separate tool for blunt work, slide cutting, scissor-over-comb and so on without a serious outlay.
