VIA comes with a useful pedigree. It’s the dedicated shear line of Sensei Shear Systems out of Pittsburg, California, and Sensei didn’t start as a scissor maker at all. The parent company began in 1980 as Precision Edge, a sharpening service founded by Mark Wright, and earned a reputation for being hired by other manufacturers to fix their edges before it built shears of its own. The VIA line followed around 2000. When a company spends two decades grinding everyone else’s blades first, it tends to know what a good edge feels like.
